With over 8 years of experience, my work in production is extensive. I have been responsible for client engagement, creative direction, scripts and production briefs, booking studio spaces, acquiring talent and equipment, directing and videography, editing and delivery. 

INSIGHT IN TO MY PUBLISHED WORK

Pronouns at Work, NDIA 


Ideating with the Strategy team at the NDIA, I was required to produce and deliver our highest-performing internal video, to inform staff members of the importance of pronouns in the workplace.


My role as producer included: 


  • Conferring with my team, generating a preproduction brief for our idea, gaining approval from each Government team involved (Communications, Digital Media and our business partner).
  • Creating prompts, working with the business end and Communications to ensure they were well-worded, considerate and emotionally balanced. 
  • Acquiring talent (staff members) willing to share their views and advice on approaching pronouns, their importance and value.
  • Booking external studio space and props (cue cards, tables and chairs) to use on the day of filming.
  • Directing the talent, videographer and assistant during filming.
  • Editing and finalising deliverables for the video. 
  • Creating analytics for the most viewed and engaged film in the Agency.

Sam Valavanis, Participant Story, NDIA 


Ideating with the Proactive Media team at the NDIA, working closely with

Vision Australia, I was required to produce and deliver the Agency's first external Audio Described story. 


My role as producer included: 


  • Working with the Assistant Director, Diana Fisk, to create a preproduction brief outlining our strategy to the Directors of Digital Media and Social Media.
  • Speaking with our talent, Sam, to develop rapport and organise filming.
  • Communicating with Metro and V-Line to organise a 'slow-stop' for filming at Nar Nar Goon and Flinders Street station. 
  • Creating a call sheet detailing equipment, timings and a shot list.
  • Directing our talent, videographer and assistant as well as communicating with passengers during filming.
  • Generating audio descriptions with Vision Australia for the final draft. 
  • Editing and finalising deliverables for the video. 
  • Setting new video standards for accessibility and generating a strategy for future Audio Described projects. 


Stressless Sam, MQFF/Quit Victoria


Attaining funding through the Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF), in assocation with Thorne Harbour Health and Quit Victoria, this short film was inspired to ultimately motivate smokers to stop smoking. 


My role as writer, producer and director included: 


  • Generate and submit a brief, budget of $5,000 and business case to MQFF for funding the film. 
  • Liasing with Quit Victoria to ensure the messaging of the script was medically relevant, up to date and aligned with their organisation's strategies. 
  • Creating puppets, props and designing sets for the upcoming filming. 
  • Booking a green space, videographer, assistant director, secondary producer and puppeteers for the project. 
  • Creating a call sheet detailing equipment, timings and shot list.
  • Directing puppeteers, videographer and voice actor.
  • Editing and finalising deliverables for the video. 
  • Accepting $3,000 in winnings for the project. 


ALEA, FedSquare


Working with Federation Square, creating content for the FED CAM. The brief was to create a visually engaging composition that would turn heads. 


My role as writer, producer and director included: 


  • Generate and submit a brief to Federation Square curator for approval. 
  • Acquiring dancers for filming. 
  • Booking studio space with UV light. 
  • Organise hiring of equipment, paint and additional lighting equipment. 
  • Create shot list of angles best suited to the FED CAM. 
  • Creating puppets, props and designing sets for the upcoming filming. 
  • Booking a green space, videographer, assistant director, secondary producer and puppeteers for the project. 
  • Creating a call sheet detailing equipment, timings and shot list.
  • Directing puppeteers, videographer and voice actor.
  • Editing and finalising deliverables for the video. 
  • Accepting $3,000 in winnings for the project. 


Bringing the NDIS vision to life, NDIA


Working with Marketing and Communications teams, we produced an animation to illustrate the creation and development of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.


My role as a producer: 


  • Ensure the script developed by Communications was in Plain English.
  • Developing a storyboard with the Marketing team.
  • Communicating with an external supplier (MILK) to develop graphics and animation.
  • Managing invoicing of MILK. 
  • Ensuring MILK graphics aligned with Agency strategy and diversity requirements. 
  • Conferencing feedback and concerns voiced from each team. 
  • Delivering and releasing final version. 


Surfing the Spectrum, NDIA


Working with Digital Media and Communications teams, we produced videos detailing the work of Surfing the Spectrum (STS), an organisation that holds free surfing sessions for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 


My role as a producer: 


  • Work closely with STS, acquiring their schedule and key contacts.
  • Create a preproduction brief to gather approval from Communications and Digital Media teams. 
  • Arranging approval for travel and hiring a car. 
  • Preparing a shot list for interviews and b-roll.
  • Directing videograppher on the day of filming.
  • Gathering interviews and consent forms from families, NDIS participants and STS volunteers. 
  • Creating video drafts for approval by STS, Communications and Digital Media.
